NationalIHC directs to provide details of gifts received by Imran Khan

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has directed to provide details of the gifts received by the former Prime Minister Imran Khan.

While hearing a Case regarding Toshakhana on Wednesday, the IHC Judge Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb said that the Cabinet Division is bound to provide the information regarding gifts received by the former prime minister during his official foreign tours.

Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb remarked that gifts given to government officials by foreign governments belong to the State of Pakistan not some individuals.

“These gifts are not meant for taking home,” he said adding that these gifts should be recovered if someone had taken them home.

Later, the hearing of the Case was adjourned for two weeks.

According to the Express Tribune, the former Prime Minister Imran Khan had purchased at least four expensive gifts at one fifth – Rs 21 million – of their government-assessed rates of Rs 102 million before the Federal Cabinet revised the rules and increased the price tags in December 2018.

The former prime minister had decided to retain four gifts including a watch worth Rs 85 million, pen worth estimated Rs 15 million, ring worth Rs 9 million and cufflinks worth Rs 6 million after paying their nominal price.
