PakistanPakistan Army wants free, fair and timely general elections: DG ISPR

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Army said on Thursday that it wants free, fair and timely general elections in the country, describing the delay in elections unbeneficial to the army, Dispatch News Desk (DND) reported.

“Delay in holding of general elections won’t benefit the army in any way,” said Director General ISPR Major General Asim Salim Bajwa.

During the last five years, the Pakistan Army has supported the democracy and it would continue to do so in the future as well, Bajwa told a select-group of journalists during a background briefing here.

Talking about recent terrorist activities in the country and especially in Quetta, Bajwa said that ISI works in provinces including Balochistan within its constitutional parameters.

Director General ISPR said that 19 new check posts were created in Quetta, which are manned by FC and that there are a total of 35 check posts in the city.

Bajwa made it clear that Pakistan Army has no hesitation in taking control of Quetta but the government has made a political decision in this regard.
