Treason case: Special court to announce verdict about Musharraf's non-appearance at 3pm

ISLAMABAD: The special court will announce its verdict about former President Pervez Musharraf’s non-appearance in the court for treason case at 3pm today.

A three-member special court headed by Justice Faisal Arab and comprising Justice Tahira Safdar and Justice Yawar Ali resumed hearing the treason case against former President Pervez Musharraf in Islamabad on Thursday.

Musharraf, who is under treatment in a military hospital in Rawalpindi, did not appear before the court for today’s proceedings of treason case. His counsel, Anwar Mansoor, submitted an application seeking an exemption for his client from personal appearance in today’s proceedings, saying that his client could not appear in court today on account of his ill health.

The former president’s counsel said that doctors have recommended that Musharraf be treated at a hospital in France, the same medical facility where he once underwent tests.

Later, the special court adjourned the hearing of treason case against former president till Friday and said that judgment about Musharraf’s non-appearance in the court will be announced at 3pm today.
