PESHAWAR: An anti-polio campaign is set to begin in parts of Bara tehsil of Khyber agency on Friday, under which more than 20,000 children will be administered polio drops.
In order to avoid any untoward incident during the campaign, Pakistan army, khasadars and Frontier Corps (FC) personnel will accompany more than 135 polio vaccination teams set up by the authorities for at least 20,000 children in the tribal area.
The campaign comes when a full scale military operation named as ‘Zarb-e-Azb’ is going on against the militants in the North Waziristan tribal region.
The operation is being viewed as a blessing in disguise for vulnerable children who would now easily be administered polio drops which could not have been done earlier due to persisting militant threats and inaccessibility.
