BANNU, Pakistan: A total of 955,996 persons displaced by the military operation against militants in the North Waziristan tribal region have so far been registered by the provincial disaster management authority (PDMA) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
A spokesman of the authority said that cash assistance worth over Rs358 million rupees has been distributed among the internally displaced persons (IDPs).
The PDMA spokesman said that the World Food Programme (WFP) has so far distributed a total of 3,726 metric ton food assistance among the IDPs.
Rs16.8 million disbursed among IDPs under Eesaar Programme
Meanwhile, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has disbursed Rs16.8 million among the IDPs under the Eesaar Programme.
The sources in the PDMA said that so far 2,100 IDPs families have received cash assistance under the programme.
Each family is getting Rs8,000 as cash assistance from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa the government.
The World Health Organization (WHO) has delivered 17 emergency health kits including medicines and medical instruments to the district health officer Bannu for the treatment of the IDPs.
