ISLAMABAD: The National Assembly of Pakistan on Tuesday unanimously passed “The Prohibition of Corporal Punishment Bill‚ 2013”, the bill provides for making provisions for prohibition of corporal punishment against children, Dispatch News Desk (DND) reported.

The bill, moved by Dr Atia Inayatullah, says that any form of corporal punishment of children will be outlawed.

Under the bill sentences for those involved in acts of corporal punishment has also been recommended. The recommendation states that individuals involved in acts of corporal punishment should be sentenced to one year in prison, Rs 50,000 fine or both.
