Pakistan, Iran agree on effective border surveillance

QUETTA, Pakistan: The Pakistani and Iranian officials held a meeting in Tehran on Wednesday, during which they agreed on effective border surveillance through bilateral cooperation.

The Inspector General Frontier Corps (FC) Balochistan Major General Muhammad Ejaz Shahid and the Chief of Iranian Border Guards General Qassem Rezaei held the meeting that was aimed at discussing ways and means to end border skirmishes.

“The two sides agreed to boost intelligence cooperation with regard to border security,” a spokesman for the FC Khan Wasey said.

“Cooperation between the two countries in battling terrorists is indispensable,” he added.

The two sides also discussed the recent incidents on Pakistan-Iran border besides intelligence sharing.  They emphasized that bilateral cooperation is imperative for peace in the region.
