ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: In order to ensure law and order as Ashura is being observed across the country on Monday, the government has made strict security measures.
The 9th Muharram processions are being taken out across the country today to pay tributes to Hazrat Imam Hussain (AS) and his followers who sacrificed their lives for Islam at Karbala some seven centuries ago
The reports said that all cellphone services have been suspended while pillion riding has also been banned in various parts of the country.
The special guards have been deputed outside Imambargahs to provide security to mourners. Likewise, contingents of law enforcing agencies are patrolling sensitive areas.
The reports said that around 33,000 army troops and Civil Armed Forces including Rangers, Frontier Corps and Frontier Constabulary have been deployed in different towns and cities to ensure law and order
The law enforcing agencies have been directed to remain vigilant and keep a close watch on procession routes and other sensitive points to ensure peace and protect life and property of the people.
Meanwhile talking to media persons in Parachinar, Commandant Kurram Militia Col. Maqbool Ahmad said that 6,000 security personnel have been deployed to maintain law and order in the agency.
Maqbool Ahmad said that foolproof security arrangements have been made for peaceful observance of Muharram. He said that religious scholars and elders have assured full cooperation for maintaining sectarian harmony and brotherhood.
