Pakistan to plunge into darkness if trade deals with China not executed: Iqbal

LAHORE, Pakistan: The Federal Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal has said that if Pakistan fails to execute the trade agreements signed with China, it would plunge into the darkness.

In his address at a ceremony of Punjab Growth Strategy 2018 in Lahore on Saturday, the minister underlined the need of availing full benefits from the economic agreements with China.

Last month, the Chinese President Xi Jinping paid a two-day official visit to Pakistan during which both the countries signed more than 50 agreements and memorandums of understandings (MoUs) worth $46 billion covering key development projects in the infrastructure, energy and communication sectors under the ambit of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

The planning and development minister said that the CPEC is a real change which would bring about progress and prosperity in the country.

The minister said that the image of Pakistan has improved significantly across the globe due to prudent economic policies of the government. He said that the country has been transformed into a heaven for the international investors.

“Pakistan has great potential to move ahead,” he said.

The minister further said that we should produce educated and progress leadership to steer the country out of crises.
