ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Chairman Bahria Town Malik Riaz on Wednesday submitted an application at the Lohi Bher police station to file a first information report (FIR) against three persons for allegedly blackmailing him.
The 61-year-old philanthropist and a real estate investor also submitted video recordings and other evidences to the police against three persons including Lt. Colonel (retd) Tariq Kamal, Khalid Rasheed and Dr Shafiqur Rehman.

In his application, Malik Riaz accused the above mentioned three individuals of blackmailing him and trying to destroy his and Bahria Town’s reputation.

Malik Riaz said that the blackmailers received Rs50 million as extortion on June 28, 2013 and assured that there would be no further blackmailing. However, the blackmailers demanded more money while 15 days ago Lt. Colonel (retd) Tariq Kamal issued another threat.
It was further stated in the application that the name of former Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry’s son Arsalan Iftikhar was used to blackmail the Bahria Town authorities.
Meanwhile talking to the media, Malik Raiz’s counsel and former law minister Dr Babar Awan said that his client is a peace loving philanthropist.
“The government, judiciary and media should act responsible now as first step to eradicate extortion from the country,” he appealed.
Babar Awan also said that his client has faced numerous threats and difficult times throughout his business career.
