In a briefing given to the Senate, Sartaj Aziz told that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif will address the annual session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) on September 30.

Sartaj Aziz said that the prime minister will highlight issues of Kashmir, Indian interference and threat to strategic balance in South Asia during his address to the UNGA.

The advisor said that Pakistan would highlight the Kashmir issue at the United Nations and other forums as bilateralism envisaged in Shimla Agreement failed to achieve any progress on the dispute.

Sartaj Aziz said that India accuses non-state actors of Pakistan but here it is an issue of state actors interfering in Pakistan.

Earlier in the day, at his weekly press briefing in Islamabad, the Foreign Office Spokesman Syed Qazi Khalilullah also said that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif will address the UN General Assembly on September 30 and details of the visit are still being chalked out.

“The prime minister’s speech before UNGA is being finalised,” the spokesman said.
