PESHAWAR, Pakistan: Unknown miscreants have killed the Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) of Peshawar Central Jail Zahir Shah and his brother in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Charsadda district on Thursday.
The police official said that the incident took place within the jurisdiction of Mandani police station where unknown gunmen came on motorcycles and opened fire on the DSP Zahir Shah when he was exchanging Eidul Azha greetings with other people at his hujra.
Resultantly, the DSP Zahir Shah and his brother lost their lives.
The attackers managed to escape the scene successfully.
No person or group immediately claimed responsibility for the attack. However, mostly the terror-related incidents, have happened in the province in the past were carried out by the militants belonging to the banned terror outfit Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).
The incident occurred when Eidul Azha was being celebrated in some parts of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province and the Federally Administrated Tribal Areas (FATA).
Meanwhile, 62 suspects were arrested when the security forces conducted a search operation in different localities of Peshawar, aimed at apprehending terrorists and averting any untoward incident on the occasion of Eidul Azha.
