ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Ali Haider Gilani, the son of former Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani, has been recovered in a successful operation in Afghanistan, the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari told in a twitter message on Tuesday.
“PM @YR_Gillani received call from ambassador of Afghanistan.His son @haidergilani has been recovered in a successful operation.Alhamdulillah,” Bilawal said.

Bilawal told that the former prime minister was informed about his son’s recovery by the Afghan Ambassador to Pakistan Dr Hazrat Omar Zakhilwal in a telephonic conversation.
Ali Haider Gilani recovered in Ghazni
Meanwhile, the Afghan National Security Adviser Muhammad Hanif Atmar called the Adviser to the Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz and informed that Ali Haider Gilani was recovered on Tuesday in a joint operation carried out by the Afghan and US security forces in southeastern Ghazni province.
The Afghan national security adviser said that Ali Haider Geelani’s transfer to Pakistan is being arranged following required medical check-up.
Unknown assailants abducted Ali Haider Gilani on May 9, 2013 from the outskirts of Multan while he was campaigning for the parliamentary election. The assailants also killed his secretary and a guard while left four people injured.
Earlier in March this year, the abducted son of former Punjab Governor Salmaan Taseer, Shahbaz Taseer, was also recovered by the security forces from Al Saleem hotel in Kuchlak area of Balochistan, nearly five years after he was seized by gunmen from Gulberg area of Lahore.
