RAWALPINDI, Pakistan: The Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed has expressed gratitude to media for unprecedented coverage of Defence and Martyrs Day especially concurrent repeat telecast by electronic media.

In a Tweet on Saturday, the Director General Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) Major General Asif Ghafoor said that that the COAS thanks the nation for reaching out to families of Shaheeds on the eve of Martyrs Day.

“Martyrs are our pride & their families our responsibility,” the director general ISPR quoted the COAS as saying.

The 54th Defence and Martyrs Day was observed on Friday to pay tributes to the martyrs and ghazis and reaffirm commitment to defend the motherland against all threats.

The political and military leadership visited the graves of martyrs in various parts of the Country yesterday, laid floral wreaths there and offered Fateha. They also reached out to the families of martyrs to pay glowing tribute to them.

Meanwhile, Pakistan Air Force Day is being celebrated across the Country today to pay homage to the martyrs of PAF who embraced Shahadat in defending the country during the Indo-Pak War of 1965.

While addressing Martyrs’ Day ceremony at Air Headquarters in Islamabad, the Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Mujahid Anwar Khan said that Pakistan Air Force (PAF) is ever ready to protect the blue skies of the Country.

The Chief of Air Staff said that PAF’s glaring victory against the enemy during Operation Swift Retort showed to the world the capability of our Shaheens.

The Air Chief Marshal Mujahid Anwar Khan also laid floral wreath and offered Fateha at the Martyrs’ Monument.
