ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi and his Chinese Counterpart Wang Yi held discussions on Pakistan-China bilateral relations and cooperation in diverse fields at the Foreign Office in Islamabad on Saturday.

The meeting was held after the Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi arrived in Islamabad to attend the third round of China-Pakistan-Afghanistan trilateral meeting.

Wang Yi was received by Shah Mahmood Qureshi at Noor Khan Airbase.

Meanwhile, the two Countries signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for mutual cooperation in the field of education.

The MoU was signed on Pakistan’s behalf by the Executive Director Higher Education Commission (HEC) while from the Chinese side, the Vice Chairman Chinese International Development Cooperation Agency signed the document.

The two foreign ministers were also present on the occasion.

The third round of China-Afghanistan-Pakistan Trilateral Foreign Ministers’ Dialogue is taking place in Islamabad today under the Chairmanship of the Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi.

Besides Shah Mahmood Qureshi and Wang Yi, the Afghan Foreign Minister Salahuddin Rabbani will also attend the forum along with his delegation.

The agenda of the dialogue is to focus on political relations and the peace process, security cooperation and counter terrorism, and development cooperation and connectivity.

Earlier talking to media at Noor Khan Airbase where he went to receive the Chinese foreign minister, Qureshi termed the trilateral forum as very significant one. He said that the importance of this forum will further increase with improvement of peace and security in Afghanistan as it will open doors of economic activity and trade in the region.
