I find this city a perfect package of history, architecture, nature, fun, food, and a lot more. Hence, I find its popularity completely justified. Spending a day in Baku under $100 isn’t that big of a problem due to the currency. So, let’s tell you how to spend a day in this budget.

Ideal duration for your trip

Baku is a city that is impossible to be covered in a day, and you need a minimum of a week for it. But, since this guide is about a day only, we are helping you as per that. As for the best time to visit this wondrous city, we suggest you either visit between April and June or September and October.

Accommodation in Baku, Azerbaijan 

Whatever your budget is, Baku will provide you accommodation as per that. Go to Booking.com or Agoda.com to see if a hotel room can fit in your budget. Otherwise, you can go to Hostel World and get a dorm for as cheap as $10.

Transportation in Baku

The public transport in Baku is one of the cheapest in the world. You can buy a BakiKart for around $1 and get a single ride for a quarter of a dollar only. Moreover, the taxis are also cheap and will charge you a mere $0.76 for a single mile. I recommend you either stay in Icheri Sheher, Khutor or Yasil Bazar

Food & Drinks Expenses in Baku

Food in Baku is one of the bests in the world. If you have been following my guides lately, you are sure to know I like it better than even Turkish Food. Try Azerbaijani Kebabs, as they are a must. You can cover your entire days’ worth of food at $20. You can get food from a supermarket for as low as $5.

Baku does not have much of a nightlife, but there are pubs and bars around. Though alcohol might not exactly be cheap, you can find a beer for $10.

Wondering about things to do or see in Baku city?

Visit Icheri Sheher, which is the UNESCO World Heritage Site and is located right in the center of the city. You will be able to visit You can go to the Maiden Tower ($6 to go to the top), Shirvanshah Palace, various mosques and minarets, the ruins of caravanserais, and bathhouses, etc. from here. See the famous Baku Flame Towers from the outside, because going inside isn’t obviously in your budget. Other places include Heydar Aliyev Center ($7 to visit it), Fountain Square, Taza Bazaar, Upland Park, Bilgah Bagh, Baku Boulevard, and Gobustan National Park among others. As always, do take a free walking tour and walk by the Caspian Sea for a beautiful and relaxing time out.
