KARACHI, Pakistan: The Chairman Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has expressed grave concern over the unchecked target killings in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Dera Ismail Khan.

“Our hearts go out to the victims and their families. We stand with them at this time of immense grief, and share their sorrow,” Bilawal Bhutto said while expressing grief over the recent target killings in Dera Ismail Khan.

The Chairman PPP said that it was most unfortunate that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)-led government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chose to ignore the state of affairs in DI Khan, and remained unconcerned while killers roamed free and continue to kill with impunity.

The unabated incidents of targeted killings in Dera Ismail Khan have become the latest eyebrower-raiser in the Country as multiple killings have reportedly been carried out by unknown assailants in DI Khan in recent days – in two of such incidents a former Union Council (UC) Naib Nazim and a trustee of an Imambargah were gunned down on February 2.

On Friday, the Senate Standing Committee on Interior Chairman Rehman Malik took notice of the increased incidents of targeted killings in DI Khan, and sought briefing on the issue from the Inspector General Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police Salahuddin Khan Mehsud and the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Home Minister.

While the Secretary General Majlis Wahdat-e-Muslimeen Pakistan (MWM) Allama Nasir Abbas Jaffary also strongly condemned the wave of target killings in Dera Ismail Khan, urging the Chief Justice of Pakistan Mian Saqib Nisar to take notice of this gory trend.
