FAISALABAD, Pakistan: The Punjab government had allocated Rs 200 million funds for establishment of Daycare Centres across the Province for facilitating working women, the Punjab Minister for Women Development Hameeda Waheed-ud-Din said on Friday.

While inaugurating a Daycare Centre at Ayub Agriculture Research Institute (AARI) Faisalabad, the minister said Daycare Centres were being establishment across Punjab on the directions of the Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif.

The minister said more than 102 such Centres had been made functional in different districts of the Punjab Province so far.

Hameeda Waheed-ud-Din said the goal of Country’s progress could not be achieved without bringing women into mainstream of national development. She said the boarding facilities were being provided to Female Employees in the Working Women Hostel on subsidized rates under the supervision of Women Development Department Punjab.

The minister said the enforcement of Women Protection Act was a significant step of the Punjab government for safeguarding rights of women.

In addition, she said soft loans of Rs seven billion were being provided to the youth for starting their self-employment under the Chief Minister Punjab Employment Scheme and due share of loans had also been allocated for the women for their entrepreneurship. She said Rs 100 million had also been allocated for providing training to more than 10,000 Woman Councilors.
