ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Foreign Office on Thursday said the blame game served no one’s interest and was counterproductive in the efforts to counter terrorism.
It was stated by the Foreign Office Spokesman Nafees Zakaria said at his weekly media briefing in Islamabad, saying it was one of salient converging points discussed when the Foreign Minister Khawaja Asif undertook visits to China, Iran and Turkey.
The Spokesman said that the foreign minister’s visits to review the latest developments and consult regional Countries were successful in terms of convergence of interest and viewpoints on the situation in the region including Afghanistan.
Zakaria said that it was agreed by the four Countries’ leadership that peace in Afghanistan was important for stability in the region while no military solution to Afghan conflict seemed having appeared result-oriented.
Likewise, Zakaria said, the leaders agreed that regional solution of the situation lied in peaceful Afghanistan, and they urged the Afghan owned and Afghan led dialogue for peace in the war-stricken Country.
The three Countries acknowledged that Pakistan had contributed immensely in the fight against terrorism and had rendered unprecedented sacrifices as well as suffered human and economic losses, the Spokesman told.
The Spokesman said that leaders of Pakistan, China, Iran and Turkey were of the view that presence of terrorist outfits in Afghanistan and safe havens were a threat to regional Countries. They believed that terrorism was a global phenomenon and hence warrants global cooperation, he said.
Zakaria further told that the leadership of Pakistan and mentioned three Countries also agreed that for lasting regional peace, resolution of disputes like Kashmir was important. He said that the leadership considered human rights violations in Indian Occupied Kashmir as a matter of serious concern and condemnable.
Moreover, Zakaria said that during his visit, Khawaja Asif noted that the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights had strongly condemned human rights violations committed by Hindu terrorists, persecution of religious minorities and deplored position taken by India in the context of Rohingya Muslims.
