ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Minister of State for Poverty Alleviation & Social Safety Faisal Karim Kundi has said that the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) is introducing new cash disbursement mechanism through individual bank account of the beneficiary.
While appraising a women delegation from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on various initiative of BISP, he said that this initiative is a vital step towards financial autonomy of the women.
The delegation, led by Senator Ms. Rubina Khalid, comprised women from different walks of life.
Faisal Karim Kundi informed the delegation that BISP’s cash disbursement mechanism is digitized and transparent and constant efforts are being made to make it more users friendly and modern.
The minister further informed that BISP is also initiating dynamic registry survey soon to assess the socio-economic status of households on real time basis. He said that new Dynamic Registry Data will have the capacity to incorporate changes that occurred in the socio economic situation of a household.
Dynamic Registry Desks have been established all across the Country to process the new survey of the households, he continued.
The minister of state highlighted that more than eight million households have benefited so far from BISP various initiatives which include Benazir Kafalat Programme, Benzir Naushonama Program, Taleemi Wazaif and Undergraduate Scholarship Programmes.
While responding to the queries of the members of visiting delegation, he informed them that beneficiary in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) can withdraw their cash from Bank Al-Falah while in the rest of the Country Habib Bank Limited (HBL) disburses the cash to beneficiaries.
