ISLAMABAD: A three-member judicial commission including Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali, Justice Ejaz Afzal and Justice Iqbal Hamoodur Rahman has been formed to probe the attack on senior journalist and anchorperson Hamid Mir.
The approval of names of three judges of the Supreme Court was given by Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Tassaduq Hussain Jillani on Monday.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Sharif visited Hamid Mir at the Aga Khan University Hospital in Karachi where the senior journalist is undergoing treatment.
The prime minister was accompanied by Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif, Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah and Sindh Governor Ishratul Ibad.
Speaking to the media, the prime minister said that an investigation into the attack on Hamid Mir was underway and no stone would be left unturned. He prayed that Hamid Mir would recover soon and once again raise his voice for truth.
On Saturday, unknown gunmen on motorcycles opened fire on the vehicle of Hamid Mir on Sharae Faisal near Natha Khan area in Karachi when he was on his way to his office from the airport. Subsequently, the senior journalist was seriously injured as he received six bullets.
Later on Sunday, the prime minister ordered a judicial inquiry into the attack and decided to constitute a three-member judicial commission to probe the murder attempt on Hamid Mir.
