GUDDU: As part of the government’s efforts to meet the energy shortfall the country frequently experiences, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif inaugurated two units of 243 megawatts each at the Guddu Power Plant on Monday.
In his address at the opening ceremony, the prime minister described commissioning of two additional power units of Guddu Power Plant as important miles stones. He said that early completion of the two units at Guddu helped in saving Rs 58 billion to national exchequer.
The prime minister reaffirmed that the government is committed to make Pakistan a bright and shinning country.
The project has been completed five months ahead of the stipulated time with cooperation of a Chinese company. The early completion will save Rs 58.6 billion.
The third unit of similar capacity to be commissioned in May this year, will add a total of 747 megawatts to the system.
The addition of three power units will increase the current capacity of Guddu from 1655 megawatts to 2402 megawatts.
