ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf said on Wednesday that a consensus-based caretaker setup would be formed to ensure transparent and free elections, Dispatch News Desk (DND) reported.
Talking to Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Chief Altaf Hussain on telephone today, PM said that no decision would be made regarding caretaker set-up without taking MQM into confidence.
The Prime Minister assured MQM chief of restoring law and order situation in Karachi and other cities of the country.
PM Ashraf said he would soon write a letter to leader of the opposition in the National Assembly for discussing and finalizing the name of care taker Prime Minister. The allied parties will also be taken into confidence on the issue, he said.
Meanwhile, Altaf Hussain said it is desire of all political stake holders that general elections should be transparent and free. He said Election Commission should be so neutral and upright that no one could point finger on its performance.
MQM chief called upon the Prime Minister to ensure increase in number of police personnel in Karachi and equip them with the latest equipment to overcome law and order situation.
