RAWALPINDI: The Corps Commanders’ Conference was held at the Army General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi on Wednesday with Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif in the chair.
A press release issued by the Inter Services Public Services (ISPR) states that the forum undertook a comprehensive review of the prevailing external and internal security situation especially along the Western border.
The issue of drawdown of ISAF from Afghanistan with its concomitant implications on the security situation along the bordering region was also discussed.
The ISPR said that the COAS appreciated own troops for additional security measures along Pak-Afghan Border to assist our Afghan brethren in conduct of smooth Presidential Elections.
The forum also comprehensively reviewed Pak Army’s large scale involvement on security, development and rehabilitation works in various parts of the country.
The COAS commended the efforts despite serious security and administrative challenges, the press release further states.
