ISLAMABAD: The federal government on Wednesday announced the Hajj Policy 2014 under which 143,368 Pakistanis would perform next Hajj.
The federal minister for religious affairs Sardar Muhammad Yousaf announced salient features of the policy at a news conference in Islamabad on Wednesday.
The religious affairs minister said that the government and Private Hajj Group Organizers will have fifty-fifty quota.
Yousaf said that banks would start receiving Hajj applications from April 21, adding that the applications under government scheme would be entertained on first come first served basis.
Any person who has performed Hajj during the last five years will not be eligible to perform Hajj this year except as Mehram or the one undertaking Haj-e-badal, the minister said.
The minister said that Hajj package under the government scheme from Karachi, Quetta and Sukkar will be Rs 262,231 and from Peshawar, Islamabad, Lahore, Multan, Rahim Yar Khan, Faisalabad and Sialkot would be Rs 272,231.
