ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Minister for Interior, Planning and Development & Reform Ahsan Iqbal on Wednesday said China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) had become a symbol of global identity of Pakistan, and the multi-billion dollar project highlighted Pakistan’s positive image across the World.
In his address at a seminar “CPEC Five Years: A Story of Success and Opportunities”, organized by Sustainable Development Policy Institute in Islamabad, the minister said due to CPEC, a number of World Countries were now keen to enter into a partnership with Pakistan.
The planning and development minister said peace and stability were vital to reap benefits of that gigantic initiative. He said a strong economy was indispensable for a Country to move forward. He said those Countries were ruling the World now which made full use of the opportunities they had.
The minister said the federal government had also launched the Productivity, Quality and Innovation (PQI) initiative to make Pakistan globally competitive.
The federal minister further said China wanted to see Pakistan as a prosperous and developed Country. He said in the past, Pakistan’s per capita income was $300 while China’s was $200. But now, he added, China’s per capita income had reached $8,000 whereas Pakistan had $1,600 per capita income.
