ISLAMABAD: The Foreign Office said on Thursday that the decision regarding Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to attend the Indian Prime Minister-elect Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) Narendra Modi’s swearing-in ceremony will be taken later in the day.
In her weekly media briefing in Islamabad on Thursday, the foreign office spokesperson Tasnim Aslam said that a representative of the prime minister will attend the oath taking ceremony if he is unable to be there.
“Pakistan wants meaningful dialogue with India to ensure lasting peace in the region,” Aslam said.
The spokesperson expressed the confidence of resumption of peace talks between the two countries after new government comes to power in India.
