ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: An earthquake measuring a magnitude of 5.0 on the Richter Scale took place on Monday in northern areas of the Country; however, luckily no report of causalities or damage was found.
Talking to media in Islamabad, the Director National Seismic Monitoring Centre of Pakistan Meteorological Department said that earthquake jolted Islamabad, Swat and other adjoining northern areas on Monday at 10:59 am.
The director said that the epicenter of the quake was 28 kilometer deep at Afghanistan-Tajikistan border.
It was the second earthquake which struck various parts of the Country as earlier on Sunday, a 4.2 magnitude earthquake jolted Central Punjab region and northern areas.
The Pakistan Meteorological Department said that tremors were felt in Sargodha, Peshawar, Chiniot, Mianwali, Faisalabad, Hafizabad, Mandi Bahauddin, Toba Tek Singh, Gojra and other adjoining areas.
