The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has disqualified the ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) member of Punjab Assembly Muhammad Salman, and ordered for reelection in PP-217 (Multan-VII).
Muhammad Salman won the election held on July 25, 2018 from PP-217 as an Independent Candidate by beating the PTI Vice Chairman Shah Mahmood Qureshi.

But later following the efforts of the former PTI Secretary General Jahangir Khan Tareen, Muhammad Salman met the Chairman PTI Imran Khan and announced to join PTI.
In its judgment, the ECP said that as per the record of the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA), the age of Muhammad Salman was less than 25 years during the election.

Separately, the Election Commission while accepting the petition of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Sardar Ayaz Sadiq ordered to initiate an inquiry against the PTI leader Aleem Khan in fake affidavits case.
The ECP ordered to file an application in the Session Court against Aleem Khan.
