Finally the experienced Mohammad Hafeez has been included in an 18-member Pakistan Squad for upcoming Australia Series in United Arab Emirates (UAE).
The 37-year old Mohammad Hafeez was left out from the Squad despite his brilliant all-round performance in a Quaid-e-Azam Trophy match at Iqbal Stadium in Faisalabad last week.
Mohammad Hafeez scored 213 runs for SNGPL in domestic match against Peshawar
While batting for Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) in his first innings of the match held from September 25-27, Mohammad Hafeez scored 213 runs against Peshawar. He also picked up four wickets in the match which eventually led his side to clinch a comfortable win against Peshawar with an innings and 105 runs.
“The National Selection Committee and Team Management has decided to include Mohammad Hafeez for a two-match Test series against Australia. Mohammad Hafeez will travel to Dubai on the first available flight,” said a press release issued by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Monday.
With 39.22 average, Hafeez has scored 3452 Test runs in 50 matches with nine hundreds and 12 fifties.
Besides Hafeez, Azhar Ali, Fakhar Zaman, Imam Ul Haq, Babar Azam, Muhammad Rizwan, Sarfraz Ahmed (Captain), Yasir Shah, Shahdab Khan, Usman Salahuddin, Muhammad Abbas, Hassan Ali, Wahab Riaz, Faheem Ashraf, Mir Hamza, Asad Shafiq and Haris Sohail have been included in the Squad.
The two-match Test Series between Pakistan and Australia will begin on October 7 at Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
The National Selection Committee headed by Inzamam Ul Haq also didn’t include Mohammad Amir in the Squad who went wicketless in the recently ended Asia Cup 2018.
Meanwhile Asad Shafiq-led Pakistan A is playing a four-day Tour Match against Australia at Dubai from September 29 to October 2.
While batting first Pakistan A scored 278 runs before being bowled out. In reply, Australia has so far scored 373 runs for the loss of three wickets.
