KARACHI: Three tribunals set up by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) in Sindh were dissolved on Monday following objections of Sindh High Court (SHC).
The tribunals were set up by the ECP to take up election-related complaints in Karachi, Hyderabad and Sukkur. Retired judges were appointed for the tribunals.
Chief Justice Sindh High Court objected to the commission’s decision, saying that it was binding to consult the high court to appoint judges according to a Supreme Court’s order.
The Sindh chief justice termed the appointments as illegal.
