ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari has summoned first session of the National Assembly for June 1, Dispatch News Desk (DND) reported on Tuesday.
The Presidential spokesperson Senator Farhatullah Babar said the president had approved the advice sent to his office by caretaker premier Mir Hazar Khan Khoso for convening the NA session on the said date.
Moreover, a formal notification has also been released in this regard under which the session of the new National Assembly will be held at 10 pm on June 1 at Parliament House.
In the first session‚ outgoing speaker Dr. Fahmida Mirza will administer the oath to the newly elected members. Later on‚ members will sign register of the Assembly.
The Speaker will announce schedule for the election of new Speaker and Deputy Speaker which will be held on Monday.
Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) which is the single largest party in the House has not yet finalized the names of the candidates for Speaker and Deputy Speaker.
However‚ Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has nominated Shehryar Afridi for the Speaker while Munazza Hassan for Deputy Speaker.
The newly elected House is expected to elect its new leader on June 5 and it is almost final that PML-N chief Muhammad Nawaz Sharif will be elected new Prime Minister which will be his third term in the office.
