EU Visa-free regime for Ukrainians will work from June 11, 2017

Monitoring Desk: Visa-free travel for Ukrainians to EU countries will work from June 11 midnight, reports Dispatch News Desk (DND) news agency.

This development will open a world of new opportunities to people of Ukraine, particularly its youth to interact with Europe and take social benefits out of this historic development.

Ukraine suffered a lot in its quest to become part of Europe instead of Russia-led Eurasian Economic Union and now first opportunity of becoming a part of European world at lat knocks at the door of Kiev.

According to information, Ukrainian citizens with biometric passports will no longer require visas when travelling for short stays of up to 90 days to all EU Member States except for Ireland and the UK. However, visa-waiver does not grant Ukrainians the right to work in the EU countries.

It may be mentioned that soft visa regime for Ukraine is already in process and over 34,000 Ukrainians travelled to EU countries by train from January 2017 to May 22, 2017. The train runs daily through Vinnitsa, Khmelnitsky, Ternopil, Lviv, Chop and Kosice.

The official bulletin of the European Union unveiled that the Council of the European Union supported the decision to grant a visa-free regime for Ukrainians at a meeting on May 11, and the European Parliament deputies supported it on April 6, 2017.

In accordance with the published document, Ukraine will be excluded from the list of countries whose citizens must have a visa for crossing the border with the EU.

The decision of Brussels on granting Ukrainians the right to visa-free travel to the European Union is published in the official EU bulletin and will enter into force on the night of June 11,
