ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) on Wednesday organised a ‘Natia Mushaira’ to celebrate the holy month of Ramazan and to paying glowing tributes to the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
The Mushaira was presided over by the renowned poet Iftikhar Arif and participated by 20 local poets, who recited ‘Hamad-o-Sana’ in a poetic rhyme.
Vice Chancellor AIOU Prof Dr Shahid Siddiqui welcoming the holy month, announced that the university will hold series of events on the occasion for disseminating and following golden teachings of the Prophet (PBUH).
“We wish our students could understand and practice the real essence and spirit of the Holy month. We believe that the universities needed to play their role to bring home true message of Islam and disseminate the same among the students,” he added.
Such events, he said are aimed at motivating the students and the faculty members to follow the Islamic teachings in a letter and spirit while fasting. This also a way to earn ALLAH’s blessings.
Eminent poet Dr Ehsan Akbar was the chief guest on the occasion who recited some poetic verses to pay tributes to the Holy Prophet (BBUH).
The renowned poets of the twin cities participated in the ‘Natia Mushaira’ included Anjum Khaleeq, Dr Javed Manzar, Wafa Chishti, Arsh Hashmi, Ali Yasir, Hafiz Noor Ahmed Qadri, Yousaf Alamgarian, Muhammad Afzal Safi, Sheraz Ali Zaidi, Baqar Wasim Qazi, Arif Farhat, Kashif Irfan, Qasim Yousaf, Dr Arshad Mahmood Noshad and others.
Everyone’s heart gripped with emotions as ‘Naats’ in praise of Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), were presented by them, in their unique styles. There was also praise and appreciation from the audience.
The event was arranged by university’s Urdu Department Professor Dr Abdul Aziz Sahir highlighted the significance of the month and the university’s arrangements to celebrate it.
