Praha, Czechia: Pakistani Envoy in Czech Republic in Prague Ambassador Khalid Jamali has said that independence is one of the invaluable gifts and Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah must be remembered as a unique personality in human history who achieved a country through non-violent philosophy and through sheer political means.
He was of the view that August 14 was (is) the day of remembrance of the sacrifices of our previous generation who sacrificed their lives and valuables for independence.
While addressing the Flag-hoisting ceremony here at the Pakistani Embassy in Prague, Ambassador was of the view that every Pakistani living abroad is a symbol of Pakistan and they should take this point in their minds while living abroad. He was of the view that he felt honored while meeting the host country’s officials because the Pakistani community has never been involved in any social activities in the Czech Republic. Jamali who is leaving the Czech Republic for his new assignment, was of the view that Covid-19 wasted two years of his tenure but he tried his level best to catch lost opportunities during the following years and resolved many issues faced by the Pakistani diaspora in the Czech Republic. He added still there is so much left that would be followed by his successor.
He was of the view that Pakistani students living in the Czech Republic should promote a soft image of Pakistan through their friendly and helpful conduct towards Czech society and should respect social norms and laws and should become a useful component of Czech society during their stay in the Czech Republic. He informed students that Pakistan and the Czech Republic enjoy excellent bilateral relations and both countries are working to enhance bilateral trade and people-to-people contact.  “I have high hopes for you (Pakistani diaspora) because you are the permanent public ambassadors of Pakistan.
Ambassador Khalid Jamali would be remembered for his constant hard work to promote Pakistan in eastern Europe not in Czech Republic and gates of Pakistani embassy remained open for Pakistani diaspora while he was a father figure to Pakistani students living in Czech Republic. He had very helpful, supportive and positive with Pakistani diaspora and had been inviting them often for formal as well as informal interaction.
His contribution for connecting Pakistani chambers of commerce with Prague chamber of commerce would be remembered as this initiative help to promote Pakistani export in the Czech Republic and for introducing new items for export. His constant and focused attempts for enhancing Pakistani export in the Czech Republic resulted in the signing of an agreement on Economic Cooperation between the Government of the Czech Republic and the Government of Pakistan.
An agreement on Economic Cooperation between the Government of the Czech Republic and the Government of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan was signed on July 26, 2023
by the Minister of Industry and Trade Jozef Sikela on behalf of the Czechia government, whereas Ambassador Mr. Muhammad Khalid Jamali signed on behalf of the Government of Pakistan.
With the signing of the Agreement, a joint commission has been established which would encourage joint projects between the two countries. The chairperson of the commission would be the Deputy Minister of Foreign Trade and European Union of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Czech Republic and the Additional Secretary of the Economic Affairs Division from the Pakistan side. The commission may involve representatives from other institutions, business chambers, etc. The commission would meet alternatively in the Czech Republic and in Pakistan on mutually agreed dates.
The agreement is strengthening and developing cooperation between the two sides and would aim to create favorable conditions to further develop cooperation and exchange information in the areas of agriculture, industry, investment, trade, and scientific and technological cooperation between the two countries.
The agreement came into force on 1st August 2023 for an indefinite period unless either party on notice could terminate the agreement which would take effect after three months of the date of notice.
