ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Former two-time elected member of National Press Club (NPC) governing body Mamoona Arif passed away at Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) in Islamabad on Tuesday morning.
The 28-year-old Mamoona Arif was brought to PIMS early Monday in a critical condition after she suffered brain hemorrhage. She was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of PIMS where she breathed her last just a while ago. However, the cause of her brain hemorrhage is yet to be determined. Her funeral prayer will be offered at NPC Islamabad later in the day.
Born on December 20, 1989, Mamoona Arif was elected as the member of NPC governor body in 2016 election from Journalist Panel for the first time. Later she was re-elected for the Seat in 2017.
Mamoona Arif was currently affiliated with Daily 92 News as a reporter. Prior to that, she also worked for Islamabad-based Dispatch News Desk (DND) news agency and Online International News Network.
As the news of her death surfaced in Social Media, the journalist fraternity especially her accomplices expressed deep grief and sorrow over the sad demise of Mamoona Arif. They prayed that May Allah Almighty rest the departed soul with eternal peace.
It was the second unfortunate news within 10 days which severally jolted the NPC Islamabad. Earlier on January 1, the senior journalist Abdul Wahid Baghi passed away after he had a heart attack and now Mamoona Arif also left the entire Journalist Community in a state of shock, just a few days before the NPC Election 2018.
