ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Federal Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunications Anusha Rehman on Friday said that the federal government is putting in efforts to better the cellular connectivity at Motorways.
While answering a question during Question Hour in the Senate, the minister said this complaint has frequently been received and she has directed Chairman Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) to improve working of telecom companies.
Anusha Rehman also informed the House that according to Ufone the services through Base Transceiver Station (BTS) installed in Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) Islamabad was closed on the direction of Public Accounts Committee (PAC).
However, she added that the BTS was later restored in the interest of general public on receipt of directions by the PAC.
The minister said that providing uninterrupted service to consumers is priority of the government and the situation would improve in coming days.
While answering another question, the minister said, the website of Khabaristan Times website was blocked for containing anti-state material.
Anusha Rehman said the website was reported to Pakistan Telecommunication Authority by a security agency through PTA web portal in January.
The PTA noted that the website contained anti-state material, which is violation of Pakistan penal Code section 121 and 122 and PECA section 37 that is why it was closed by the PTA, the minister added.
