ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Minister of State for Federal Education and Professional Training Engr Muhammad Baligh Ur Rahman Thursday said that imparting education to each and every child of the country was responsibility of the federal government and provinces.
While inaugurating the new book shop of Oxford University Press (OUP) here at the Centaurus Mall, he said friendship with education was not possible without books.
He referred the education system of Germany and said that Pakistani education system would also be improved to compete internationally.
Baligh Ur Rahman said the federal government with the cooperation of all provinces would achieve maximum target of literacy rate till 2018 in the country adding that Inter Provincial Coordination had been established in this regard.
He vowed to upgrade all 422 schools of federal capital with modern facilities including transport, labs, professional teachers in the present tenure of PML-N government.
He appreciated the efforts of Oxford Publishers for promoting education in the country.
Speaking at the occasion, Ameena Saiyid, Managing Director, Oxford University Press Pakistan said that the opening of the new bookshop ensured availability of Oxford books to a categories of customers visiting the mall including students, parents booklovers, and booksellers.
She further said that the presence of the book shop would help further OUP’s objective of dissemination of knowledge and promote the love of books and reading.
