JALALABAD: At least five police officers were killed while four others sustained injuries after a series of explosions set off in quick succession hit police headquarters in the city of Jalalabad in eastern Afghanistan.
The first suicide bomber detonated a large car bomb at the entrance to the station, and was followed by two more suicide bombers who set off explosive vests inside the building.
An additional four bombers were killed during the ensuing gun battle with police. The Taliban has claimed responsibility for the attack, which it said targeted “foreigners and Israeli teachers.”
