SHEIKHUPURA, Pakistan: The security forces have killed five terrorists in Sheikhupura district of Punjab on Saturday.
The sources said that the security forces conducted a search operation in an area within the limit of Sheikhupura but the operation ended in an exchange of fire between the terrorists and the security forces.
Subsequently, five terrorist were killed by the security forces and their bodies were taken into custody.
The security forces also recovered arms and ammunition from the possession of terrorists.
The law enforcement agencies (LEAs) have intensified their actions against suspected persons ahead of the beginning of month of Muharram-ul-Haram.
Muharram will begin in the mid of October and to ensure peaceful atmosphere and avoid occurrence of any untoward incident during the month, the LEAs are carrying out search operations and formulating special security plans across the province.
On Wednesday, the members of the Punjab Cabinet Committee for Law and Order headed by Law Minister Rana Sanaullah Khan visited Multan on Wednesday to review security arrangements for Muharram.
In his address at the meeting, Rana Sanaullah lauded the religious leaders for their efforts in maintaining religious harmony. He urged religious leaders, scholars and clerics to unite.
The minister said that ban on use of loudspeakers for other than prayers has helped curb hate speech.
