LAHORE, Pakistan: The Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah Khan said on Monday foolproof security arrangements had been finalized for Muharram-ul-Haram processions and Majalis.
“Government will ensure peaceful ending of Ashura and extra force will be deployed at Imambargahs across the province on Ashura day for the protection of faithfuls,” he said.
Talking to the state-run news agency he said the provincial government was determined to maintain peace and tranquillity during Muharram and like previous years extra-ordinary security measures had been adopted.
He said all the departments concerned and agencies had been asked to perform their duties for ensuring peace during Muharram especially on Ashura day.
The minister said law would take its course against provocative speeches and hate material adding indiscriminate action would be taken against elements involved in misuse of loud-speakers and violation of ban on wall-chalking.
He said all the Majalis-e-Aza and Zuljinnah processions would be monitored through CCTV cameras and no one would be allowed to take part in them without being checked first.
Earlier, holding a meeting with notable Sunni and Shia Ulema at his chamber, the minister said the protection of life and property of the people was responsibility of the government and every step had been taken for this purpose.
He urged them to play their due role in promoting harmony and tranquility during Muharram.
