Four murder convicts executed across Pakistan’s Punjab province

LAHORE, Pakistan: As Pakistan has already carried out over 100 executions since December last year, four more condemned prisoners were hanged till death across the Punjab province early Saturday morning.

In Lahore’s Kot Lakhpat Central Jail, a death row convict Ehsaan was executed for killing a person in 2002, a crime later proved in an anti-terrorism court (ATC).

The condemned prisoner Muhammad Saleem was executed at the Central Jail in Faisalabad for murdering his cousin. He was awarded penalty by a sessions court in Faisalabad in 2004.

Separately, a murder convict Abdul Ghaffar hailing from Muzaffargarh was executed in Multan Central Jail. He was sentenced to death by a sessions court in Muzaffargarh for killing three individuals including his wife in 1990.

In addition, authorities in Sahiwal Central Jail executed a Mianwali resident Wazir for killing a persons in Rajanpur in 1991 over a domestic dispute. His death sentence was announced by a session judge in Rajanpur in 1996.
