As the whole World including Pakistan was welcoming the advent of New Year 2018, one of Country’s senior journalists Abdul Wahid Baghi was not only bidding adieu to 2017 but he also set off on another journey, leaving his companions filled with tears and unforgettable memories.

Wahid Baghi breathed his last in the wee hours of Monday as a result of fatal heart attack.

Meanwhile, his soyem ceremony will be held at National Press Club (NPC) in Islamabad on Wednesday morning with a large number of attendees.

The funeral prayer of Wahid Baghi was offered at NPC on Monday evening in which a large number of people from all walks of life particularly journalists and media workers, politicians, and civil society members participated.

Likewise, almost all office-bearers of the Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ), Rawalpindi-Islamabad Union of Journalists (RIUJ) and NPC were also present in the funeral prayer of Wahid Baghi. Later, he was laid to rest at Islamabad’s H-11 Graveyard. 

Wahid Baghi passed away hours after he was celebrating the New Year cake-cutting ceremony and fireworks at NPC. He left the NPC premises at around 2:00 after mid-night, and as per the information received, he confronted a heart stroke at 5:30 in the morning that proved fatal.

Late Wahid Baghi belonged to the era of Late PFUJ leaders Minhaj Burna and Nisar Osmani. He used to call everyone as ‘Baba Jani’ and was always there to help out every one, come what may. He was lately associated with Country News.

Wahid Baghi also faced imprisonment in Zia era but he never compromised on principles. Throughout his life, he earned a lot of appreciation and acknowledgement from his fellows for his dedication towards journalism, and humble & helpful attitude. He was always admired and loved by all people belonging to various cadres of media profession.
