ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The visiting Afghan political delegation led by Speaker Wolesi Jirga Mir Rahman Rahmani arrived at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Islamabad on Monday, and met the Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi.
The foreign minister welcomed the Afghan delegation and exchanged views on the rapidly evolving situation in Afghanistan.
Talking to the delegation, Qureshi underlined the need for making collective efforts to devise a strategy for the betterment of Afghanistan and the region.
Shah Mahmood Qureshi said that our ultimate goal is to ensure a peaceful, united, democratic, stable, and prosperous Afghanistan.
The foreign minister said that he strongly believes that together we can advance peace and reconciliation. He said that the international community is clearly in favor of peace and reconciliation in Afghanistan.

The minister emphasized that the Afghan leadership must seize this historic opportunity to pave the way for a broad-based and comprehensive political settlement in Afghanistan.
Qureshi reiterated that we believe that comprehensive political dialogue is the only way to resolve the Afghan issue peacefully.
The foreign minister also reaffirmed Pakistan’s resolve to continue to play its constructive and reconciliatory role for Afghan peace.
Shah Mahmood Qureshi said that it’s need of the hour that the international community move forward to provide cooperation and economic assistance for the reconstruction and rehabilitation of Afghanistan.
The high-level delegation of Afghan political leaders reached Islamabad on Sunday to discuss matters of mutual interest with Pakistani leadership.
The delegation included the Speaker Wolesi Jirga Mir Rehman Rahmani, Salah-ud-din Rabbani, Mohammad Yunus Qanooni, Ustad Mohammad Karim Khalili, Ustad Mohammad Mohaqiq, Ahmad Zia Massoud, Ahmad Wali Massoud, Abdul Latif Pedram, and Khalid Noor.
