DHAKA: Seven players have been charged over matching fixing in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) and another two were charged for failing to report corruption in the game, the International Cricket Council (ICC) said.

The names of the alleged players have not been disclosed by the ICC and the Bangladesh Cricket Board. The players have 14 days to plead guilty or defend themselves against the charges before an anti-corruption tribunal, they said in a joint statement on Tuesday.

“Nine individuals have been charged with various offences that are alleged to have been committed… during the 2013 Bangladesh Premier League,” said the statement.

The alleged offences were by those connected to the Dhaka Gladiators franchise of the BPL during the 2013 season of the Twenty20 tournament.
