PakistanIHC issues contempt of court notice to PM

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has issued contempt notice to Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf for not promoting PWA’s grade 19 officer to grade 20, Dispatch News Desk (DND) reported on Tuesday.

The Public Service Commission (PSC) had proposed the PM to promote the PWA’s superintendent engineer to grade 20 while the court also issued orders to the PM to implement the PSC’s recommendations on June 24, 2011.

The counsel of the petitioner said that the PM had committed a contempt of court by not promoting the officer in grade 20.

The prime minister had only issued orders for the promotion of his son-in-law, he said, adding the incumbent government has completed hat-trick in contempt notices.

The IHC has also issued notices to the PM’s principal secretary and secretary establishment.
