Implementation of Sharia not part of talks with Taliban: Rustam Shah

ISLAMABAD: A part of four-member government peace committee Rustam Shah Mohmand said on Wednesday that talks with the Taliban will not be held outside the framework of the constitution, adding that the implementation of Sharia was not part of the dialogue.

Talking to media representatives after addressing a seminar over the 2014 NATO troops withdrawal from Afghanistan and Pakistan’s role in Islamabad, Mohmand said that neither any area will be given to a militant group nor will anyone’s agenda be followed.

The government team member said some Taliban opponents want to sabotage the peace process. He said that the Taliban condemned and disassociated themselves from the recent terror attacks in the country.

Mohmand said that the implementation of Sharia was not part of the dialogue and the Taliban had agreed to a ceasefire. In addition, he said that dialogue will only be held with the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and no other group.
