ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chief Imran Khan on Sunday strongly condemned the Peshawar blast and assured the nation that the culprits would be punished.
At least 29 people, including women and children, were killed and more than 70 others injured when a blast ripped through Peshawar’s ancient Qissa Khwani Bazaar.
“Nothing justifies the killing of innocent people including women and children and this is against Islam”, Imran Khan said in a statement.
“It is unfortunate that some parties are again using this tragedy for political point scoring when all political forces should be together to bring peace to Pakistan,” Imran Khan said.
Imran Khan said he had demanded of the PTI coalition government to move on an emergency basis to bolster the provincial security and intelligence set ups.
“Khyber Pukhtunkhwa is being deliberately targeted by those forces who do not want to see peace and stability restored in Pakistan,” Imran Khan said.
Earlier, ANP leader and MNA Ghulam Ahmed Bilour, who reached the spot and expressed deep sorrow over the casualties, lashed out at the PTI leadership and questioned Imran Khan’s stance for allowing Taliban open their office.
