Imran Khan faces strong protest as he visits APS Peshawar

PESHAWAR, Pakistan: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Khan visited the terror-hit army public school in Peshawar on Wednesday but he faced strong protest by the family and loved ones of those who had lost their lives in December 16 attack.

Imran Khan’s wife Reham Khan, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Pervez Khattak and others also accompanied the party chief during his visit.

However, as Imran Khan reached the APS Peshawar, the protesters holding posters and banners tried to stop his vehicle from entering the school building.

The protesters complained that the provincial government did not show any concern regarding the school attack. They also lamented that it took Khan a month to come to Peshawar after the deadly school massacre.

Meanwhile, talking to media in Islamabad on Wednesday, the federal information minister said that due to the negative approach in politics, Imran Khan today had to face ‘Go Imran Go’ slogans when he arrived to visit the army public school in Peshawar.

The army-run school in Peshawar witnessed the worst terror attack the country has seen in recent years on December 16 and that left 150 persons mostly school children dead.

Following the attack, directives were issues for educational institutions across the country to ensure that complete security arrangements are made. The winter vacations for all government and private schools were also extended till January 12 due to the security concerns.

On Monday, the educational institutions including the Peshawar army public school reopened while the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif along with his wife also visited the terror-hit APS and met with the students and their parents.
