Monitoring Desk: Iran nuclear deal has taken a new turn as the Iranian President Hassan Rouhani has rejected the idea of gradual lifting of sanctions against his country.
President Hassan Rouhani said that Iran would not sign final deal unless all sanctions are lifted by June 30, 2015.
While addressing to nation in connection with National Nuclear Technology Day of Iran, President Hassan Rouhani said that the final joint statement was not Iran’s only achievement in Switzerland in the nuclear talks with the P5+1 group rather chief gain was the fact that US President Barack Obama acknowledged that the people of Iran will not surrender to bullying, sanctions and threats.
Iran unveiled its three radio-medicines as well as a nuclear fuel assembly for power reactors on Thursday. Rouhani was the key-note speaker in the ceremony.
The Iranian president reiterated that all sanctions imposed on Iran will be lifted as soon as a final nuclear deal to be reached with the six world powers by a July 1 deadline comes into force.
“We will not sign any deal unless all sanctions are lifted on the same day … We want a win-win deal for all parties involved in the nuclear talks,” said Rouhani at ceremony.
It may be mentioned that the framework of a deal that will limit nuclear programmes of Iran was signed during negotiations held in Switzerland and lasted for days. Israel strongly criticised the deal. The group of countries known as “P5+1” – the US, Russia, China, Britain, France and Germany have been trying hard to reach an agreement with Iran to restrict the country’s nuclear program in return for a lifting the economic blockade imposed by the UN for nearly 18 months.
There was ambiguity from the very first hour of signing of deal in Switzerland over the issue of lifting sanctions. Iranian Foreign Minister was of the view that sanctions would be lifted immediately but written deal was silent over this issue.
